Coatings Industry:
It is a key monomer for latex paints and industrial coatings. Copolymerization with styrene and acrylic acid can produce elastic coatings for exterior walls and metal surfaces, enhancing the coating's aging resistance (UV resistance) and low-temperature flexibility (no cracking at -30℃).
Example: In water-based acrylate emulsions, isooctyl acrylate accounts for 20-40%, enabling the coating to maintain elasticity at -10℃ and withstand more than 5,000 scrubbing cycles.
Adhesives and Sealants:
Copolymerization with vinyl acetate and polyurethane produces pressure-sensitive adhesives for tapes and labels, improving tackiness and temperature resistance (stable from -40℃ to 80℃).
As a sealant component, it improves adhesion to plastics and metals and is commonly used in automotive sealing (resistant to engine oil corrosion).
Polymer Material Modification:
Copolymerization modifies polyvinyl chloride (PVC), lowering the glass transition temperature (Tg) so that PVC products (such as hoses) remain soft at low temperatures.
